Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers are the heart of our organization. Volunteers help to make the Ronald McDonald House more comfortable for our guests. We also rely on them to help keep the House running smoothly. If you are interested in any of the opportunities listed below, please contact us by email or by phone for more information. You are also welcome to fill out the volunteer profile and mail or email it to the House, we will then contact you.
In House Volunteers
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Front Desk – greet and welcome families and visitors to the House, accept and put away pop tabs and other donations, answer phones, record referral and reservation calls, give tours to guests or scheduled groups, receive and sort mail, write thank you notes to donors, and assist guests as needed.
Housekeeping – light cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, help restore guest rooms after check-out, help keep kitchen and public areas well organized, empty trash, sweep porches and sidewalks, organize playroom and supply rooms.
Yard Work – maintain garden beds and plantings seasonally.
Recycling – transport recyclables including aluminum cans, plastic bottles, newspapers, and cardboard to recycling centers.
Regular shifts are available Monday through Friday. Hours are 9am – 12:30pm and 12:30pm – 4pm. Each In House volunteer fills one 3 ½ hour shift per week.
Family Meals
Our guests have access to a large, fully stocked kitchen and are welcome to prepare their own meals. However, sometimes it is nice for them to come back to a home cooked meal after a long day at the hospital. If you would be interested in making dinner for our guests, please call to reserve an evening. The meal may be cooked and delivered, or you are welcome to cook in our kitchen. Please read the Family Meal Program Guidelines.
Groups
We welcome groups of all sizes to come for a work day at the House. The House is always in need of some deep cleaning, yard work, or possible painting projects. Weekends work best for volunteer groups. A couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday make a huge difference!
